Williams-Sonoma announced opened a new store in the The Mall of San Juan in The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. This is the first store for the brand to open in the Caribbean, the company said.
Williams-Sonoma San Juan measures slightly more than 8,000 square feet and will have two cooktops; one island for demonstrations and another with 12 seats for interactive culinary activities for adults and children. The overall design reflects the visual and merchandising strategy that Williams-Sonoma is introducing in new retail locations stateside.
“We’re thrilled to be expanding our North American footprint in the Caribbean,” said Janet Hayes, president, Williams-Sonoma. “The Mall of San Juan is a spectacular shopping center and we look forward to be contributing to the local economy as well as serving the community here.”
The store opened for business on Sept. 25. It held a book signing with Puerto Rican Chef Jose Santaella on Sept. 26. Additionally, the brand is donating a portion of sales from its opening events to the local charity Fundación Pro Ayuda.
